What is raffia? Raffia is a natural straw from Madagascar, made from 100% natural vegetable fibres. Choose from natural raffia or bright red raffia, the latter of which is a great way to add some extra colour to a gift. 

Shredded zig zag paper

At Tiny Box Company we have shredded zig zag paper in a wide range of colours for you to choose from! It's ideal for filling space in your gift boxes and bags or padding out gift baskets for hampers, elevating any packaging while adding a pop of colour from ice blue to cerise pink.

Shredded paper also helps prevent fragile goods from getting damaged in transit due to its ability to fit into small spaces, so you can send out goods to customers with a better peace of mind.

Each paper shred is approximately 4mm wide and made from 80gsm (grams per square metre) recycled paper, supplied in boxes from 1kg to 5kg, so you'll have plenty to keep going for a while.

This paper is reusable and is an ideal way to quickly add or pad your stock or gifts, and can simply be recycled or composted once no longer needed.

By choosing to use recycled shredded paper, you can reduce your business' environmental impact, cut costs, and provide a great degree of protection for your products during shipping. It's a versatile and sustainable material for businesses looking to make a positive impact on the environment.

Why use shredded paper for packaging?

Our range of zig zag shredded paper is a unique way to protect your items as, due to its zig-zag shaped strips, it's able to spring and form around your items creating a bouncy, cushioned environment to keep your products safe and sound.

Shredded paper is available in a great range of colour options, as well as natural kraft brown, so you can match the colours of the paper to suit your brand.

How to use shredded paper for a gift packaging filler

Shredded paper for gift boxes, gift bags, and party bags can be a great, fun, easy and effective way to secure your items. Here are some steps on how to help make sure that your parcel arrives safely:

  • Start with appropriately sized boxes, gift bags, party bags, or hampers. Remember, as well as being less wasteful, your items will be more secure if there is less space around them - but you'll need a couple of centimetres around your items for the cushioning!
  • Place a good layer of shredded paper at the bottom of your boxes or gift bags, making sure to fill all the corners. The actual depth will vary but aim to not be able to see the bottom of the container anymore and then add some more. Because our zig zag shredded paper is naturally springy, it will compress a little, so for shipping heavy or fragile items it's better to add a little extra to be safe.
  • Place your item(s) inside and add extra paper shreds around the edges to get a fairly snug fit to avoid things rattling about.
  • Cover in a top layer of shredded paper. Like the bottom, this layer should be fairly thick for shipping.

    • Being made from 100% natural materials, our shredded paper is 100% biodegradable and suitable for home composting, leaving no toxins. Simply mix it with the rest of your compostable waste and pop it in your home or commercial recycling bin.
  • Vegan
    • Our shredded paper is 100% free of any form of animal products, ensuring a cruelty-free and more environmentally sound product.
  • PH Neutral
    • Our shredded paper is completely PH neutral, meaning it is neither acidic nor alkaline. This is important for packaging goods that tarnish easily like jewellery, clothing or artwork.
