Stick to a Palette
Want to create a picture perfect pile of presents under your tree? Stick to a palette of two or three colours – and carry that theme through your paper, Christmas tissue paper and Chritsmas ribbon. Muted blush, soft blue and mint greens are a huge trend now. Throw in a little glitter ribbon, too, to make your parcels sparkle in candlelight.
Bring in the Evergreens
Traditionally we bring the outdoors inside at Christmas. But it doesn’t have to stop at the tree, wreaths and garlands. So why not add it to your present wrapping, too? Eucalyptus, Conifer leaves, fir, berries or pine cones can all be incorporated using Christmas ribbon or twine. You could also try dried fruits - apple and orange, cloves or cinnamon sticks all look amazing and smell divine.
Bags
Avoid the usual wrapping paper in favour of pretty paper bags, envelopes or miniature cotton or organza Christmas bags. Personalise with Christmas accessories stamps, photos, tags and Christmas ribbon.
Create a Theme
Create a uniform motif that runs across all your gifts, like a consistent colour of Christmas ribbon for example. By using themed embellishment you can cover your presents in mismatched wrap, or even newspaper or brown paper but as an ensemble under the tree, they’ll look stylishly coordinated!
Personalised With An Old Photo
Get people smiling before they’ve even opened the present and turn unwrapping into a guessing game. Wrap in simple brown paper and create a personalised name tag using an old photo copied onto thick paper or card. It’s a great excuse to look through old albums, and indulge in some festive nostalgia - but it’s Christmas so why not?!
Give Simple Homemade Wrap A Lift With Ribbon And Twine
If you’re into a greener Christmas this year, homemade wrapping paper is a really affordable way to create as much wrapping paper as you need. Just take some plain brown Kraft or white paper and decorate with a children’s initial stamp or an office or date stamp – you could try the same trick for a birthday. Plain Christmas ribbon adds the finishing touch. Try using Scrabble letters or alphabet beads to spell out a personal message.
Shape shifting
Don’t need to stick with your present’s original shape - try adding scrunched up tissue to turn your boxes into snowmen or Christmas trees. To create a Christmas cracker cut along a kitchen paper cardboard tube to encase your present in a loose roll, add a layer of Christmas tissue paper and let the wrapping paper overhand the ends - tie with Christmas ribbon before adding decorations, personalised printed tags or stickers.
Christmas will be here before you know it - so grab your favorite holiday paper, Christmas ribbon and tape, and start thinking outside the box when it comes to wrapping.
